Do the stars rule our fates?

The very surrounding we live in has an impact on our lives, moods and behaviour. On a grand scale, why not? In Astrology, each planet represents a different realm of our body. For example, the Sun is related to our health, the Moon represents our mind, Mercury our communication and so on. The energy from different planets has a different effect on humans, flora and fauna.

Depending on the time one is born, these bodies occupy a certain position with respect to the principal constellations. There are 12 zodiac signs, and each sign has its own strengths and weaknesses, its own specific traits, desires and attitude towards life and people. By analyzing the projection of the position of planets, Sun and the Moon on the Ecliptic at the moment of birth one can get a glimpse of a person’s basic characteristics, preferences, flaws and fears. Believe it or not, if one closely observes the way one conducts oneself, you will find a certain amount of characteristics match. (Check it out for yourselves😉)

Why only certain?

In the Indian household, chalking out one’s birth horoscope is a significant event. A birth horoscope in layman terms is the summary of “you”. Now, this need not be 100% accurate because no one remains the same. Change is the only changeless thing in this world. As one blossom into adulthood, his/her behaviour might change depending on the upbringing, the company they hang out with, the events in life which teaches a lesson and so on. For example, the fire signs are hot-headed, confident and tend to be temperamental while the water signs behave like water- can be deadly or life-saving. Similarly, the air signs and earth signs have certain behaviour.

In ancient India, major events were guided by the stars and their position in the zodiac. For example, according to a combination of zodiac positions of Jupiter, the Sun and the Moon the Kumbh Mela is organized. If one thinks of this as coincidence, then what about the several years that this has been happening. No one knows the exact date of origin. Each alignment of these bodies has a certain vibration, a certain output of energy which is received by us.

Even the birds follow migration paths aided by the sun/moon. If not for the moon, we would be toast. The tides would fall, nights would be longer, vegetation too would be affected (That’s basically because of the gravitational pull of the moon on the water present). Even we are affected by this subtlety of the waxing/waning phases of the moon.

Everybody possess a certain vibe which is received by every individual and thus affects our behaviour. The best example, observe your mood when you are surrounded by lush greenery and when you are stuck in a traffic jam. The energy or the aura of the surroundings we reside in allow our minds to play a huge role in our behaviour. Another must-try an experiment- Wear a crumpled, unclean shirt/cloth and simply be still. Repeat the same process with a clean and tidy shirt. Any difference? This is also the reason why certain things are arranged in a certain way. Think over it.

So yes, they do have their influence on us, but where there is a will there is a way.  More important than how it influences us, we should see we are influenced by it. Nothing can stop a determined person from achieving whatever he/she wants. Therefore try to bring in positivity in and around you. However, one mustn’t use this as an excuse to account for one’s failure or shortcomings. Chanakya has said

“Greater than the influence of the stars, it is the human effort that counts”.

  1. Very true! Good writing. More of the younger generation should be aware of the connections between religion and science and the astounding work by our ancestors of the same.
